Lubliner Festival – The Jewish Culture Festival is a new, non-commercial event taking place in the cultural and social space of historic Lublin, which fills the cultural void of the now-defunct Jewish quarter.
The main goal of the project, which is intended to become a cyclical event, is the cultivation and dissemination of broadly understood Jewish culture through music. During the festival, we will present a variety of musical themes and trends – from Hasidic songs, through lyric poetry, to Jewish cabaret, klezmer music and contemporary arrangements inspired by the music of Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews. Additionally, the festival program will be enriched by workshops and meetings. The festival will take place in non-accidental places, e.g. in the building of the former rabbinical school Chachmei Lublin Yeshiva and Po Farze sq.
After the Jewish inhabitants of Lublin, who for nearly seven hundred years co-created the Lublin metropolis, only vague memories and single associations are left in minds of modern inhabitants of the city. Meanwhile, it was the Lublin Jewish community that became one of the largest and richest in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was here in Lublin that the Talmudic Academy operated from the 16th century, and here also lived Rabbi Jakub Izaak Horowitz, known as the “Sighted from Lublin”, whose grave, located in the old Jewish cemetery, is still visited by Hasidim and other tourists from all over the world.
Our project, combining tradition with modern means of expression, opens a window to the not-so-distant Jewish past of the city, allowing the inhabitants of Lublin to immerse themselves in it – even for a brief moment – bringing them into contact with the culture of former neighbors and friends.
We hope that the Jewish Culture Festival in Lublin will become an important element of the cultural calendar of Lublin and Poland.

The organizer of the Lubliner Festival – Jewish Culture Festival in Lublin is the Ner Tamid Foundation (Hebrew נר תמיד, Literally meaning: “Eternal Light”), established to cultivate the memory of Jewish ancestors and the culture of the Jewish people. The Ner Tamid Foundation, chaired by Etel Szyc, has so far implemented many projects, using, among others, subsidies from the Ministry of Interior and Administration, JOINT and private sponsors.
The co-organizers of the Festival are the National Cultural Center, the City of Lublin and the Cultural Center in Lublin – the largest municipal institution in the region, dealing with multidirectional, open artistic and educational activities, as well as disseminating and popularizing culture through various forms of activity and creating conditions for creative activity.
